We kicked off our effort in early September. We set up a field and work space in the Rockville Library Makerspace. We recruited a few new members. We ordered some new parts and used parts from previous years to build our initial robot.

We signed up for two in-person qualification tournaments in December and February. We later signed up for a remote tournament in January. We participated in several outreach events during 2021 and into 2022, such as summer camps and Rockville Science Day.

Our design went through many significant changes as documented in our Portfolios. We qualified for the Chesapeake regional tournament, and went on to the world Championship.

In 2021/22, Team 6417 had a record of 25-10-0 at 6 events (this includes a Qualification record of 17 - 6 - 0 and Playoff record of 8 - 4). It was a great year!

First Qualification In-Person Event

Our first qualifier tournament was held on December 11, 2021, at Capitol Tech University, Laurel, MD. We did well with a rank of 2 of 17. We were 2nd finals chooser, and had a playoff record of 2 wins and 3 losses.

Our second qualifier was held remotely on January 8, 2022, at the Makerspace in the Rockville Library. we were ranked 3rd out of 8.

We were awarded the Think Award. It was a good practice for a new design and got us ready for the next qualifier.

FIRST Chesapeake Regional FTC Championship (guide)

We travelled to Hampton Coliseum, Hampton VA on April 9, 2022. We had a great run in the Carrier Division. We were ranked 5th, but became the captain of the 4th alliance selection team because two teams in ranks 1 to 4 formed an alliance. We picked Team 12518, Almond Robotics, and Team 5421, RM'd and Dangerous to make up our alliance. These were two teams from our library scrimmage a week before. Match Rank 5 out of 40, Playoff Matches: 4 Wins and 1 Loss.
